About 12 years ago a few friends of mine from work decided to run in the St Paddy Day 5k here in Seattle.  We saw the flyer at the gym and thought it would be fun to run together.  I had always been a gym person but never tried running.  I never saw myself as a runner but it was a new challenge that eventually lead me to where I am today.  I ran the 5k and loved the race atmosphere.  I started running a little more and eventually my husband started running too.  Our weekly track run/walk sessions turned into a few 5ks and we were hooked.  We ran our first marathon with Team in Training and that is where I first met Yon Yilma.  This is a story you will have to ask me about when we run togetherJ

When Cascade Run Club first started in 2014 my husband and I knew we wanted to be part of this club.   We wanted the accountability and we wanted to meet people with our same passion for running.  We have watched the club grow and we have made lifelong friends.  It’s not just running, it is a family of people that support each other and have fun together.   The coaching has helped me improve as a runner and it gives me the confidence to keep pushing.  The best part about this club is that you get to be there to watch your friends achieve their goals and you know you were with them every mile along the way.

To date I have ran 9 full Marathons and over 30 half marathons.  I just recently ran in the TCS NYC Marathon and I would love to qualify for Boston someday.

Half Marathon PR: 1:57:38

Marathon PR: 4:28:30

Training Pace: 9:30 – 10:00

Favorite Pair of Shoes: Mizuno Wave Horizon

Favorite Race Distance: I love training for the Marathon but doing a fun 5K is my favorite.

Favorite Racing Experience: Running into Hayward field with my team members sitting in the bleachers cheering me on and then joining them to cheer on the rest of the team as they finish.  It doesn’t get better than that!

Favorite CRC Memory: It is hard to pick just one.  I love our destination races where we travel together.  It is always fun to go somewhere new and race and then have some time afterwards to celebrate our successes.  Chicago, Eugene and Vancouver come to mind.
