Race Recap: magnuson Series President's Day Weekend

This last weekend, Cascade Run Club members showed up for the Magnuson Series President’s Day race despite less than desirable conditions. Although the wind stayed at bay unlike last year, the rain began right before the starting gun with cold temps around 38 degrees. Add in the fact that most had not run outside or at all for the two weeks leading up to the race.

Pacific Northwest runners are already tough winter runners, but Snowmageddon 2019 made conditions too slick and unsafe for most to run those 2 weeks. Despite all of that, about 10 run clubbers joined the other 85 runners to brave it all and run a 10k (or 5k/15k).

Tim ran strong and finished number one for his first race win. Paul was not far behind and came in third overall. Every other CRC teammate that raced, finished in the top 3 of their divisions! When you see those that ran Saturday, be sure to give them a hug or high five for showing up and making the most of everything!

It was a mentally challenging first run back after the two week hiatus. And Season 10 has already seen some of the most extreme running conditions as compared to past seasons. Not every run is going to be pretty or perfect but it  is what we do now that will help us achieve our goals for spring and summer. Keep showing up CRC!

We’d also like to congratulate CRC member, Jenna for competing in the UW High School Invitational at Dempsey Indoor this weekend. She started and ran strong in the 3,000m race. The club has enjoyed watching her high school XC and track journey. Way to go, Jenna!
